Netgear users often experience that their WiFi device is not living up to their expectations. If your Nighthawk is also creating issues for you, here’s how to fix it.
Restart Your Nighthawk and Modem
Let’s start with the simplest solution – power cycle your modem and router. Most of the time, a simple restart fixes WiFi-related issues. You can simply unplug your device and power them up again after a few seconds to power cycle them.
Update Nighthawk Router Firmware
If the issues with your WiFi started annoying you after you ignored updating its firmware, then here’s what you need to do:
- Access routerlogin net and to reach the settings of your Nighthawk.
- Locate the Firmware Update option and select it.
- You will be notified if any new firmware update is available.
- Hit ‘Yes’ to get the update.
Don’t interrupt the router firmware update process if you want it to be installed properly and without any errors.
Contact Your Internet Service Provider
Chances are you may be experiencing YouTube buffering issue from the end of your ISP. There is a possibility of some temporary technical issues with the internet from the provider’s end. So, get in touch with your ISP to know whether everything is OK from that side. Apart from that, if all other sites are working fine on your device, except YouTube, then make sure your ISP is not throttling YouTube.
Clear Cache from Your Browser and YouTube App
YouTube buffering issue may also occur if there is a lot of junk stored in your web browser as well as app in the form of cache. This can sometimes conflict with the IP of your router and result in no internet connectivity, making you see a buffering icon. To fix the problem, clear cache from your web browser and YouTube app. You can also relaunch the browser and app to get a fix to the problem.
Perform a Reset
If still your Nighthawk router is not letting you stream YouTube video, performing a factory reset is the only way you can opt for. This will surely solve your problem, however, you will end up losing all the customized WiFi settings you made during the Nighthawk router setup. A factory reset will take your router back to its factory state. To again make it up and running, you need to configure it again.
